THIS IS A YA NOVEL.
In the midst of the biggest natural disaster in American history--Hurricane Katrina--15-year-old Summer "Sumbie" Elmwood's two-year-old sister disappears from the hospital after open-heart surgery and Sumbie is the prime suspect. But in the chaos of New Orleans after the storm, no one is looking for just one little girl. Sumbie must find her missing sister and enlists her two would-be boyfriends to help her, hoping against hope that it's not too late.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
After Hurricane Katrina, New Orleanian Friedmann wrote this and one other YA novel. Her essays and reviews have appeared in such places as Publishers Weekly and Newsweek.
EDITORIALS REVIEWS & BLURBS
“Patty Friedmann, quite simply, is one of the finest writers in Louisiana. Not only did she stay in New Orleans throughout Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath, she ended up being rescued twice! No one knows New Orleans better and no one is better qualified to write about that period.” ---Julie Smith, Edgar Award-winning author
