Description

The stories in Floodlands are very loosely tied together by a water motif, its destructive as well as reformative impact. Actual floods, semen, alcohol, and so forth…In the stories where actual water images are not apparent, a sense arises of civilizations on the verge of breakage and renewal. Here too, styles and voices vary widely. For example, there are two “short stories in the form of a screenplay” and one “short story in the form of a radio play.”
